Donald Lofton of Monmouth died on June 18 in Corvallis. He was 78. He was born to Earl and Lucy Ripley Lofton in Ontario. He graduated from Vale Union High School. He lived in Ironside in 1949 and in Fossil for three years before settling in Monmouth in 1950. He worked as a cattle farmer just south of Monmouth. He was a member of the Monmouth Christian Church. Survivors include his sons, Donald D. Lofton of Ventura, Calif., John E. Lofton of Dallas and Mark Lofton of Idanha; daughter, Marjorie J. Cordrey of Shingletown, Calif.; first wife and children's mother, Dorthy Lofton of Monmouth; 12 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Graveside services were June 22 at Fir Crest Cemetery in Monmouth. Farnstrom Mortuary in Independence handled the arrangements.
