SALEM - Dennis Duane Kessel died May 19, 2005 at his home in Salem, Oregon. Born September 17, 1952 in Salem, Oregon the son of Kenneth Kessel and Velda Braziel Kessel. He graduated from Central High School in 1970 and attended Chemeketa Community College from 2003 to 2005 working toward a degree in Building Inspection Technology. He spent most of his life in the Independence, Monmouth, and Salem areas. He married Linda M. Darst on May 23, 1975 in Salem. Oregon. Dennis worked for Dependable Pattern Works in Portland for 4 years and for Franklin Equipment Co. in Independence for 9 years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, shooting Black Powder rifles, vacationing in Oregon and outdoor activities with his family and friends. Dennis was a member of Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society, Oregon's Master Hunter Program, and The National Wildlife Turkey Federation. He is survived by his wife, Linda M. Kessel; daughter Amanda L. Kessel, both of Salem; brother Gary A Kessel and wife Heidi of Independence; and sister Linda R. Diehm and husband Dennis of Keizer. Memorial contributions can be made to Willamette Valley Hospice in Dennis's memory. Visitation will be Monday, May 23, 2005 from 12 P.M. to 7: P.M. A funeral service will be 11:00 A.M., Tuesday, May 24, 2005. Both are at Farnstrom Mortuary, Independence, Oregon. Vault interment will follow the funeral service at Hilltop Cemetery in Independence.
