Cora Lorena (Rowland) Bennett

November 20, 1923 - November 14, 2012

Independence - Cora was born on November 20, 1923 to James and Irena (Buchanan) Rowland. She passed away in her home on November 14, 2012 at the age of 88.

Cora married Theodore (Ted) Bennett on October 22, 1942 in Vancouver, Washington. Ted and Cora had five children. Ted served in the US Navy, and Cora spent World War 2 with relatives and going to any place that Ted's ship came in. They ended their military lives in Norfolk, Virginia after the war was over.

Cora was a good friend and a good mother. She spent hours attending all her children's ball games, and serving as a Den Mother for several years. When Oregon celebrated its 100th birthday, Cora and Ted were living in Lebanon, Oregon, and celebrated the occasion by square dancing. Ted was teaching at the Crowfoot Schools.

A very loving and caring grandmother, Cora was dearly loved by her grandchildren. She was never too busy to spend time with them, regardless of their age.

Cora was preceded in death by her son John; siblings Nancy Rowland Grubbe, Albert Rowland, Clarence Rowland, Donald Rowland and James Frank Rowland; and step-siblings Warren Moore, Charlene Moore Matlock, Grover Moore and Clarissa Moore Watts. She is survived by her husband of 70 years, Ted Bennett; children Donald (Jade), Charles (Iris), Theodore (Linda), and Nancy (Donald) Lawrence; 14 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

Cora's life will be celebrated at a later date. Arrangements are by Farnstrom Mortuary. Memories and condolences at www.FarnstromMortuary.com .
