Claudia Mae Annis, February 17, 1934- February 19, 2025

The family of Claudia Mae Annis of Corvallis, Oregon, is saddened to announce her passing on February 19, 2025 at the age of 91 years. Claudia will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 72 years, Clarence; son Brian K Annis (Lorena Elliott); grandchildren, Joshua Annis, Jonathan Hannis (Melinda), Marcus Annis, Aaron Garten (Kristy), Kyle Garten (Alyssa), Joel Garten (Riquel); 12 great- grandchildren and 1 great-great grandson.

Claudia will be dearly missed by her extended family Phil Chavez and daughters, Andrea and Merinda, Beth Doughman and daughters, Ariel and Jessica.

She was predeceased by her parents, Earl R Rongey and Ruth Gertrude (Butterfield) Rongey, her brother Wayne E Rongey, her sister Barbara (Rongey) Gilkerson and her dear friend Kimberly Chavez.

Claudia was born in Chehalis, Washington, and graduated in June 1952 from Chehalis High School. After marrying her highschool sweetheart, Clarence, in October 1952, she enjoyed moving to Corvallis in 1960 and working at the Oregon State University for 32 years as an Administrative Assistant for the Agriculture Research Services Department.

Claudia loved spending time with her husband, her son and family, visiting friends, traveling, hiking and skiing at many locations in Oregon. She enjoyed planting and caring for her apple trees that produced many gallons of apple cider that she shared with her neighbors, caring for her rhododendrons, her favorite fish pond and many perennial flowers that surrounded the family home. Claudia was very supportive of equal rights for women and used her voice to share her dedication to helping women receive equal pay. She was an avid reader who kept updated on health and physical wellness for all ages.

For the past 14 years, Claudia suffered from dementia which contributed to many fall injuries that prevented her from continuing her enjoyment for jogging at Crescent Valley High School track, walking in her neighborhood and traveling to visit with her extended family in Central Oregon. She had treasured traveling, saving rocks and seeing the beauty of Eastern Oregon. She brought many items home including native american paintings to remind her of their travels.

The family wishes to extend a special Thank You to the staff from Visiting Angels who through their efforts were able to contribute to keeping Claudia at home. Also a special Thanks to grandson Marcus Annis who kept the night time hours safe for Claudia and many neighbors who supported and visited her while she was still at home. The family knows how important the contribution from a whole village gives comfort and security for those who suffer from dementia.

At Claudia's request, no service will be held. The family appreciates your kind thoughts, prayers and warm wishes. We ask that family, friends and associates honor the loss in the privacy of their own home.
