Obituary, Charles Edgar Cheek November 28, 1921 ~ September 9, 2007 Charles Edgar Cheek of Salem, Oregon passed away September 9, 2007 at the age of 85. Born November 28, 1921 in Battiest, Oklahoma to Marvin Z. Cheek and Lena B. Helton.. In 1935 he moved from Battiest to Rosedale, Oklahoma; 1937 he moved to Wayne, Oklahoma in McClain County and resided in that area until 1942. Graduated from Arnoldview School in 1939. Moved to Salem, Oregon in 1944, returned to Oklahoma in 1948 and then relocated Salem, Oregon in 1957. Edgar joined the US Army on September 21, 1942 and was Honorable Discharged on March 17, 1943. On December 8, 1943 he married Alma Melissa Merrill. Edgar was a member of Primitive Baptist Church in Purcell, Oklahoma. Edgar enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and time with his grandchildren. Calvin Dale Cheek Brother Albany, Oregon James Allen Cheek Brother Purcell, Oklahoma 5 Grandchildren, 5 Great Grandchildren Preceded in death by his wife Alma Melissa Cheek, Parents Marvin Z. Cheek & Lena B. Helton; sisters: Vedus I. Sweeny, Ruby I. Burch. Funeral Service will be 3:00pm Friday August 14th at Farnstrom Mortuary in Independence.
