Carol Lee Nelson of Monmouth, Oregon passed away peacefully at her home at the age of 73.

Carol was born March 11, 1938 in Salem, Oregon to Henry & Mollie Boesch. She graduated from North Salem High School in 1956. After high school she attended Oregon State University graduating in 1960 with a bachelor's degree in Business Education. While at OSU, she was a member of the Varsity Rally Squad. On April 21, 1960 she married Marc Nelson in Salem, Oregon and they were together for 51 years.

Carol was a member of St. Marks Lutheran Church in Salem, the Monmouth Social Hour Club, Salem Quilt Guild and the Delta-Delta-Delta Sorority. She was also on the Board of Directors for Willamette Valley Pan-Hellenic Board, Central School District Budget Committee, Board of Directors with the Smith Fine Arts Series and Board of Directors with Poyama Land. She was a Co-Owner of Marc Nelson Oil Products, Inc., a Salem based petroleum distributorship. She briefly taught business classes at South Salem High School and was a Decorative Art Instructor at her home in Monmouth for 25 years. Carol immensely enjoyed Quilting, Painting, Beading, Gardening and Traveling. She also loved spending time with her family and friends.

Survivors include her husband Marc Nelson of Monmouth, Oregon, son Peter Nelson of Salem, daughter Molly (Jeff) Sigado of Salem. 5 grandchildren; Jonathan, Kaitlin, Drew, Riley and Lauren, Sister Shirley Perry of Spokane and 2 nephews Chris & Mike of Tacoma and Spokane respectively. She was preceded in death by her son Paul Nelson who passed away in 1981.

Visitation will be 1-5pm Thursday at Farnstrom Mortuary

Private vault interment will be at Fir Crest Cemetery in Monmouth.

A Celebration of Life will be at 11:00am Friday, June 24, 2011 at the Monmouth Christian Church with a reception following.

Contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society or Salvation Army in care of Farnstrom Mortuary who is entrusted with arrangements.
