MONMOUTH - Betty Lou Abrams passed away September 6, 2011 at the age of 80. Born in Iowa, the 8th of 9 children to Rollo and Sylvia Knights. She moved to Oregon at the age of 20. Married Gale Dean Abrams in 1953, they had 3 children and after they were grown Betty worked for 11 years at OCE (Western Oregon University) as an administrative assistant in the special education department. Betty enjoyed reading and was an avid blazer fan. She loved spending time with her family, and grandchildren. Survivors include her daughter Gale (Dennis) Hemmen of Monmouth and son Joel (Charmaine) Abrams of Corvallis, sister Fern Swan of Corvallis, and brother Neal Knights of Owatonna, Minnesota, 5 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren on the way. Preceded in death by her husband Gale and youngest child Randy. In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to the Susan G. Komen for the Cure at PO Box 650309 Dallas, TX 75265-0309. Family and Friends are invited to an open house celebration of life from 11am to 3pm Saturday September 17th at Betty's Monmouth residence.
