INDEPENDENCE - Barbara E. Martin passed away March 18, 2012 at the age of 89. Born in Independence, Oregon, graduated from Independence High School and attended Oregon State University. Worked for Department of Justice in Salem, Oregon. After retirement she became involved with the Independence public library, Independence senior center and Hertiage Museum. Beloved mother, grandmother of five and great grandmother of 7. Barbara was a member of Independence Elks Lodge, board member of the Heritage Museum and recipient of the First Citizen's award from Independence. Survivors include her daughter Becky (Larry) Plum of Corvallis, Oregon, son David Martin of Bend, Oregon. 5 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren.
Memorial service will be 10am Thursday, March 22nd at Farnstrom Mortuary 410 Monmouth St. Independence, Oregon. Contributions can be made to the Heritage Museum or the Independence Elks Lodge in care of Farnstrom Mortuary who is entrusted to funeral arrangements.
