Arthur Stewart Lyday Jr.

Arthur Stewart Lyday Jr. passed away in his home on June 21, 2015 at the age of 91. Born on May 25, 1924 in Huntington Park, CA to Arthur Sr. and Leone Lyday, Arthur attended Kings Valley Grade School and High School, graduating from Corvallis High School in 1941. After attending a semester at Oregon State College, he enlisted in the Navy in January 1942. During his military career, he attended boot camp in San Diego, became an Aviation Ordinance Specialist in Sandpoint, WA, and attended Warfare School in Yorktown, VA. Other stations included Kaneohe Bay, HI, where he was a member of Fleet Air Wing Two; Barber Point, HI; Esprito Santos; New Heborties; Guadalcanal; Solomon Island; Muixda; New Georgis; NADZAB (Markum Valley), New Guinea; Los Negros; Admiralty Island; San Jose, CA; Pasco, WA; and Bremerton, WA. He was discharged in 1945 and released to the Naval Reserve.
During the Vietnam War, Arthur joined the Nevada National Guard, and was discharged as a Master Sargent in 1960. While in Las Vegas he worked for the Military Department of Nevada and Frontier Wholesale (owned by Ike Moore).
On August 20, 1958, Arthur married Patricia M. Burbank in Waldport, OR. Victoria and James were his children. They moved from King's Valley to Las Vegas, NV in 1958, and back to King's Valley in 1963. Arthur worked at J. V. Price Store, One Pulp and Paper, Moser Lumber Co., Emery Moore, Centennial Saw and Pacific Saw and Knife.
