Arthur M. Baxter, 92, died in his home on November 2, 2014, in Salem Oregon. He was preceded in death by the love of his life Arlene, which left a hole in his heart that could not be filled.
Art was born in Freewater, Oregon on to Arthur and Lela Baxter, joining brothers Donald and George. He graduated from high school in Murtaugh, Idaho in 1941. After high school he worked on the family farm until 1942 when he joined the Navy and served a total of 5 years, mostly in the South Pacific.
Art lived most of his life in Eastern Washington and Eastern Oregon and moved to Salem in 2005. He was a man of many talents, included farming, watch repair, handyman, and enjoying most any "good eats".
Art is survived by his children Mike and Linda as well as stepchildren Rick, Susan, Darrell, David, Deanna, Ron, Don, and Rod (who was only 4 when Art became Dad) as well as many grandchildren, great grandchildren, and a great-great grandson. We will miss him.
