Archie I. Vibbard

February 22, 1938 - January 7, 2016
Archie Issiac Vibbard, or "Papa" as his grandchildren called him, a Monmouth resident, passed away on January 7th, 2016 at the age of 77. He was born in Ada, Oklahoma and grew up Silverton, Oregon. Growing up, he was very close to his "Granny", Mary Vibbard. He lived in many places including California, Arizona, Washington, and Oregon. He was married to Mae McKinnley in 1958. They had one son, Eugene Vibbard.
While living in Wittman, Arizona he met Kathryn Joan Runyon. He married her in Vegas in April of 1987. He worked in construction for many years. He and his wife Kathryn became Apartment Managers where they won many awards over the years for their managerial excellence. He was a loyal and dedicated husband who cared for his wife as she fought cancer. They both retired from Apartment Managing in Bend in 2005, moving to Lincoln City for retirement. He settled in Monmouth, Oregon in 2006 to be closer to family after his wife lost the battle with cancer in 2005.
He listened to Country music. Some of his favorite artists included: Hank Williams Jr., Willie Nelson, and Merle Haggard. He enjoyed old Western movies. One of his favorites was El Dorado. When he was younger, he played the guitar with family and friends.
He loved being outdoors, backyard barbecues, fishing, camping and exploring along the Oregon Coast. He collected Louis L' Amour books, Archie comics, and remote controlled cars. He enjoyed landscaping, gardening, crossword puzzles and Sudoku. He loved visiting with family and teasing his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Archie attended Sunday services for years and recently confirmed he was saved. Archie is reunited with many loved ones who preceded him in death. Those include his wife Kathryn Joan Vibbard, two stepchildren; Terry Runyon and Kathy Cherry, two grandchildren; Alvin Troub and Michael Runyon, and two brothers; Ken Vibbard and William Vibbard, and one sister, Melba Hampton.
He is survived by his son Eugene Vibbard and Stepchildren: Laurie Runyon, Mary Runyon, and Michael S. Runyon. He is also survived by his brother Gene Vibbard and sister Wanda Vibbard.
He leaves behind many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Grandchildren include Marcus Rees, Joshua Vibbard, Chelsea Wells, Linda Boswell, Desiree Stinnett, Angel Troub, Johnny Coe, Autumn Coe, Prescott Coe, Summer Runyon, Serene Runyon, and Neveah Runyon. He was loved and will be missed by many.
