Archie Lee Smith

Obituary ~ Archie Lee Smith August 5, 1917 ~ June 19, 2009 Archie Lee Smith, 91, of Independence, Oregon formerly of Sun City, California died June 19th. He was born in Columbia City, Indiana to Harley and Christina Smith. He married Geraldine K. Smith on April 16, 1947. She preceded him in death on October 4, 2006. Archie retired from the Long Beach Navel Shipyard as a planner/estimator in 1974. He was a Sergeant in the U.S. Army serving in the Pacific during WWII. Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Janice and Robert Crowson of Independence, Oregon; his daughter, Marilyn S. Smith of Riverside, CA.; his sister, Ann Roberts of Liberty, MO.; and his grandchildren, Ben, Lisa and Jenny. A celebration of life was held on June 21st in Independence and a family memorial service will be held at a later date at the Riverside National Cemetery in Riverside, CA.
