Anita Louise Dodson
April 2, 1941 - November 6, 2014
SALEM - Anita passed away peacefully at home November 6th in West Salem. She was born Anita Louise Palmer in Salem, OR and raised in Monmouth, OR by parents Mary and Kearney Palmer. She attended M.E.S. and graduated from Central High School in Independence, OR. She was a member of Central High Honor Society, as well as Bethel No. 34 International Order of Job's Daughters and was installed as Honored Queen January 25, 1958. Anita was selected and attended Girl State her senior year at Central. She attended one year of school at OCE (now Western Oregon) in Monmouth.
Anita was married in 1961 to Robert Dodson of Independence, OR, and they had 53 wonderful years together. After their wedding, they settled in Petaluma, CA and completed Robert's Air Force service. They then moved to Redwood City, CA and became part of the United Airline family. Anita loved air travel, especially their many trips to Hawaii. She and her husband also enjoyed road trips to all the Western States and National Parks. She had one son in 1972, Kevin, who was the second love of her life. After retirement in 2003, she and her husband returned to live in West Salem.
Anita loved family gatherings, holidays and the hum of grandchildren around the house.
Anita was preceded in death by her parents, Mary and Kearney Palmer, nephew Greg Palmer. She is survived by husband Robert; son Kevin (Christy) Dodson, grandchildren Robby, Kelly and Katie Dodson of Rancho Santa Margarita, CA; brother Dennis Palmer of West Salem, OR; and niece Tanya Palmer of Salem, OR.
