Amy P. Murr
January 8, 1923 - April 13, 2011

Amy P. Murr died April 13th of complications from dementia at the age of 88. She was born January 8, 1923 in Rose Lodge, OR to Elsie and Carl Paul. She grew up on the family homestead on Slick Rock Creek, attended the Rose Lodge School, and graduated from Taft High School. She then moved to Portland where she worked as a book keeper and met her husband Richard Landing. They moved to Los Angeles and had two daughters Charmane and Polly. They divorced and Amy moved back to Rose Lodge and in 1962 married James Murr, with whom she had a daughter Patty. Jim and Amy bought a house in Gleneden Beach where she worked for the water office. She loved spending time walking the beach and grew a lovely garden. They eventually had a new home built on Schooner Creek Rd. In 1971 Jim and Amy moved to Arizona. They lived for many years in Cottonwood. Amy collected Indian pottery and would walk and collect pieces of broken pots. In the early 90's they moved back to Oregon to Crooked River Ranch and, as Jim's health declined, back to Lincoln City in 2000. Jim died in 2002 and Amy continued to live on her own until 2008 when dementia no longer permitted. Amy loved animals, travel, going for walks, and her children. She was kind and gracious to all and won hearts with her smile and wit even as her dementia progressed. She will be dearly missed. Survivors include her younger brother Leslie Paul of Salem, three daughters, Charmane Landing of Eugene, Polly (Dave) Studley of Newport, Patricia Laux of Flagstaff, AZ, and four grandchildren. A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, May 7th at 2:00 pm at Lincoln City Rehabilitation. Afterword's all are encouraged to walk on the beach in Amy's honor. Remembrances to the Alzheimer's Association.
