Alvin Mathew Troub, in an act of selflessness and bravery, gave his life as he tried to save the life of his brother Michael on November 18, 2008 in the icy waters of the Willamette River. Alvin, who recently rediscovered God, was baptized only a week ago as he prepared his body and soul to join the Army and serve his country. His passion to join and serve with his fellow Americans to defend this country consumed his daily thoughts. He had prepared himself with the knowledge that by joining the Army there was a chance that he might not return and he was at peace with that. The ultimate sacrifice a soldier can make for his country is to lay down his life. Alvin's ultimate sacrifice for his family was to lay down his life for his brother. Alvin joins his Grandmother Kathryn Vibbard, who he had a close religious tie to, his Grandfather Raymon Runyon and little brother Michael in Heaven. Alvin is loved and missed by his devoted mother Mary Troub, sister Angel Nicole Troub, and her boyfriend Robert Burrows, Step-Father Chuck Ferris, Father Alvin L.
